Environment:  sessile; marine; depth range 0 - 180 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific and the Arctic: Northern Alaska to Baja California. Subtropical to polar.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  With a distinctive fringe of spicules around the tip of the osculum (tube opening) with size range of 2.5-10 cm (Ref. 865). Maximum depth from Ref. 116516. Attached to rocks in areas of strong currents (Ref. 865).
