Max. size:  2 cm H (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic; marine
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: USA and Canada.
Diagnosis:  Measures 20 mm in height, conical gastric peduncle protruding into the bell cavity from which long tubular gonads hang; 25 gonads on each radial canal; long stomach with 4 frilly lips; 4 radial canals either simple or branched, with rudimentary, closely-set, knob-like diverticula; ring canal with or without a knob-like diverticula; 30 tentacles, each with a deep red pigment around the ocellus at the base; tentacles and gonads yellow or grayish brown in color (Ref. 2376).
Biology:  Sympatric with but usually less common than P. penicillatus; found year round but relatively rare (Ref. 2376).
