Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 5 - 146 m
Distribution:  South West Pacific: New Zealand and Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Assumed maximum total length is 30 cm; average carapace length ranges from 9 to 10 cm. Occurs in depths from 5 to 146 m, usually between 5 and 30 m, and it seems to prefer clear water and rocky bottoms (Ref. 4).
