Sublittoral, to depths of around 60 meters, on rocks. Found in substrates composed of mud and dead shells and corals. Also found attached to other living sessile bivalves such as fan shells (Ref. 83511).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
