Descrição suscinta Morfologia

Body elongate, oval in shape; moderately elevated. Valves olive to blackish green; mostly blotched or streaked with dirty white or light pink. Valves sculptured with about fifty bifurcating, flat, radiating riblets, separated by very fine grooves. Girdle covered with small scales and grayish brown in color, often with yellowish blotches or bands.

Occurs in gravely shores (Ref. 289). Found from intertidal to 5 m, on rocks among gravel (Ref. 75835). Also found under stones (Ref. 128661).

Members of the class Polyplacophora are mostly gonochoric. Life cycle: Eggs hatch into lecitotrophic planktonic trocophore larvae (no veliger stage) which later metamorphose and settle on the bottom as young adults.
