Description synthétique Morphologie

11.5 cm wide, 3.5 cm high, exumbrella smooth; in each octant four cleft and two simple velar lappets (two median and two lateral lappets are cleft); mouth-arms shorter than radius of bell, lower three-winged portion 5 to 7 times as long as upper cylindrical portion; uniform dark brownish-purple.

Commensals: host to a carangid fish, a crab, and a copepod (Ref. 116535).

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
